Our Story
Founded in 1982, the mission of Adobe de Oro (ADO) is to research and document the traditional arts and humanities of the Indio-Hispanic community of the San Luis Valley. In addition, ADO encourages and supports the development of the Indio-Hispanic artists and scholars of the region. Our programs, which include documentaries, conferences, festivals, exhibitions, workshops, and symposiums, attract participants from as far away as Israel, and south into Mexico and Central America. By brining together elders, or tradition bearers, and the youth of the region, they ensure that future generations will appreciate, internalize and preserve their unique culture.
